HAN BOOKS MASTERS PLACE

Han Chang-won secured a commanding five-stroke victory at the inaugural Asian Amateur Championship and with it an invitation to next year's Masters.

The South Korean teed off on Sunday at the Mission Hills Golf Club with a buffer of two at the top of the leaderboard from compatriot Eric Chun and that increased when the latter bogeyed the first.

Han then shot a superb eagle on the second to create further daylight between himself and Chun and, though he bogeyed the fourth, he picked up two more shots on the sixth and seventh holes to reach the turn in 34.

The 21-year-old moved further ahead with two successive birdies from the 11th and, though he dropped three shots coming home, it was not enough to deny him victory with a final round of two under.

The win also earned Han and second-placed Chun, who carded a one-over 73 on Sunday, a spot in the international final qualifying event for The Open at St Andrews next year.
